We received the following email from Stan NØYXV of the Grand Island Amateur Radio Society that he would like us to pass along:

I've gotten a lot of people that say they will be coming to help at the
State Fair. I've gotten very few that have actually signed up for a shift.
I MUST know how many people are coming so I can get tickets for everybody
to get in. I would hate to see somebody drive in from out of town and then
half to pay to get in just to volunteer. If you could pass along a message
to your folks that we HAVE to have people sign up I would greatly
appreciate it.

You can sign up online at http://statefair.gihams.org or by using the link
on our home page at www.gihams.org. If people don't want to use the online
form (it's not the most user friendly thing but it works) they can email
me at n0yxv@gihams.org.

I really think this could be one of the things that every Amateur Radio
Club in Central Nebraska needs to help jump start new memberships and to
revive old members. We have seen a few come out of the wood work around
here lately just because of the fair.

If your volunteering for the State Fair here is what you will need to program your HT for.

Transmit: 145.415 MHz PL 123.0         Now up and Running
Receive:   144.815 MHz PL 123.0
Set your radio for 145.415 MHz, "Minus Offset", and PL 123.0 Hz tone

We will be maintaining our current repeater system as well as the temporary one for the State Fair listed above.

Please make sure that all traffic on the 145.415 machine is related to the State Fair. The State Fair will operate in a Directed Net fashion so all traffic will go through W0CUO. Feel free to use any of the frequencies to get information about volunteering. If you feel you must chat you can move your conversation over to one of the linked frequencies listed below.

Current linked system:
Grand Island: 146.34/94-  Tone: 123.0
Elba, NE:         147.84/24+ Tone: 123.0
Aurora, NE:    147.78/18+ Tone: 123.0
